Kimberley Process published rough diamond statistics of 2015

According to Annual Global Summary recently published by Kimberley Process, rough diamond production of 2015 reached 127 million carats by volume, and $13.88 billion by value. Ranking by volume, the top 10 countries are Russian Federation, Botswana, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Australia, Canada, Angola, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Namibia and Sierra Leone in the descending order, all together accounting for 99% of global production volume. Ranking by value, the top 10 countries are Russian Federation, Botswana, Canada, South Africa, Namibia, Angola, Australia, Lesotho, Zimbabwe and Sierra Leone in the descending order, all together accounting for 98% of global production value. As the biggest diamond producing country, Russian Federation accounts for 33% in global production volume and 31% in global production value. Lesotho, Namibia and Liberia produce the high-quality diamonds with the average selling price of$931.4/ct, $591.1/ct and $458.8/ct respectively. The rough diamond import and export of China (Hong Kong SAR included) reaches 2.62million carats by volume and $3.19 billion by value, decreased by 20% and 35% year-on-year, which were much greater than the decrease of global volume and value of import and export (14% and 24% respectively).Nevertheless, rough diamond import and export of China (Hong Kong SAR included) still ranked in the sixth and seventh place for volume and value in the global rough diamond trade.
