Antwerp diamond trade in July

According to the latest data released by AWDC, its rough diamond export in July reached 9.09 million carats by volume and $1.17 billion by value, increased by 29% and 14% respectively compared with last year. Rough diamond import of Antwerp reached 6.35 million carats by volume and $910 million by value, increased by 22% and 17% respectively.

The situation of polished diamond import and export trade is not good. In July, polished diamond export of Antwerp reached 0.53 million carats by volume and $1.02 billion by value, decreased by 16% and 14% respectively. Polished diamond import of Antwerp reached 0.45 million carats by volume and $840 million by value, decreased by 13% and 17% respectively.

As for export in July, polished diamond exported from Antwerp to USA decreased by 41% by volume and 30% by value year on year, while polished diamond exported to China (HK excluded) increased by 143% by volume and 64% by value and polished diamonds exported to UAE increased by 33% by volume and 36% by value year on year.

As for import in July, imported polished from HK and Israel slump both in volume and value. Polished diamonds imported from HK decreased by 34% by volume and 44% by value while from Israel decreased by 40% by volume and 18% by value year on year. On the other hand, polished diamonds imported from UAE increased by 50% by volume and 23% by value year on year.

By the end of July this year, export of rough diamonds reach 65.48 million by volume and $7.87 billion by value, increased by 15% and 6% respectively, while export of polished diamond diamonds reach 3.46 million by volume and $7.71 billion by value, decreased by 10% and 9% respectively year on year. As for import, import of rough diamonds are 54.87 million by volume and $7.42 billion by value, increased by 7% and 4% respectively year on year, while import of polished diamonds are 3.71 million by volume and 7.3 billion by value, decreased by 11% and 10% respectively year on year.
