No Quarterly Index for Fancy Color Diamonds

The Fancy Color Research Foundation said COVID-19 has severely disrupted trade and it won’t release its regular quarterly index. Since 2015, its Fancy Color Diamond Index (FCDI) has been tracking wholesale prices changes for yellow, pink and blue diamonds.. But government lockdowns and travel restrictions have almost stopped trading in fancy color diamonds, so there will be no first-quarter index. This is the first time no index published.

The foundation said, "the quarterly data collected from data providers and the volume of transactions in the current quarter are insufficient to establish accurate market pricing data for most fancy color diamond categories." Eden Rachminov, chairman  of the foundation,, said: "We fully expect trade to resume later in 2020 and the pricing data will be available when trade becomes possible again".
