The biggest diamond ever found in North America went on display

The biggest diamond named Foxfire ever found in North America will be on display in Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History during Nov.17, 2016 to Feb.16, 2017, which was also the first time it is available to public. The name Foxfire was inspired by the north light like a brush of undulating fox tails that appear in the Arctic sky. The 187-carat diamond was found in Diavik Diamond Mine in Canada’s Northwest Territories, where diamonds found over the previous decades generally peaked at some six carats. (14/11/2016)
