Birmingham Assay Office will now screen for lab-grown diamonds


Birmingham Assay Office has revealed that it will now screen for lab-grown diamonds as part of its jewellery valuation service. SafeGuard Valuations, part of the Birmingham Assay Office, will now automatically screen all jewellery items or watches set with diamonds to determine they are natural or lab-grown.
The move comes following the growth in popularity of lab-grown stones and subsequent requests from customers to introduce the service.The new service will be available from 31 August and will be available to consumers via retailers or direct from SafeGuard.
